Meet Khalis Kalzee
I've been called a filmmaker, creative director, drone pilot, storyteller, entrepreneur, mentor and on one memorable occasion, "the bloke with too many cameras."
They're all technically true.
The reality is much simpler.
I'm someone who gets ridiculously excited about good ideas.
The kind that starts scribbling on napkins during lunch, loses track of time while editing a film and genuinely believes a well told story can change the direction of a business.
That obsession became Kollektive Media.
What began with a camera, a lot of curiosity and a refusal to settle for ordinary somehow turned into a creative agency trusted by businesses, community organisations, government and industry leaders across Western Australia.
I still can't quite believe people let me do this for a living.
I've always been interested in making videos. The people just gave them meaning.
What drives someone to start a business? What keeps them going when nobody's watching? What makes a community proud? What story isn't being told?
Those are the questions that excite me because I've learned that behind every logo, every organisation and every project is a human story waiting to be uncovered.
That's where the magic happens.
At Kollektive Media, we've had the privilege of producing campaigns, documentaries, commercial productions and weddings that don't just look good. They create connection. They inspire action.
They leave people feeling something.
Because that's what great storytelling does.
Anyone can point a camera.
What excites me is discovering the heartbeat of a business, a person or a community and bringing that to life in a way that feels authentic.
Some days you'll find us flying drones around some of the world's biggest vessels in the Pilbara.
Other days we're documenting Indigenous stories, helping businesses find their voice, creating social campaigns or producing training content that people actually want to watch. No matter the project, the goal has always been the same.
Create work that matters.
Over the years, I've been fortunate enough to work on projects that have opened incredible doors and introduced me to remarkable people. While I'm grateful for every milestone, they're not the moments I value most.
What means the most is hearing from a business owner who finally feels seen because their story was told properly.
Watching a young creative back themselves after realising they belong in this industry.
Helping regional communities share stories that deserve a bigger audience.
Seeing an idea scribbled on a whiteboard become something that genuinely impacts people's lives.
That's the stuff I'll remember.
I've also learned that business doesn't have to be so serious.
Yes, we're professionals.
Yes, we care deeply about quality.
But life's too short for boardroom buzzwords, lifeless marketing and pretending creativity only happens between nine and five.
You'll probably find me cracking a joke halfway through a strategy session, getting far too excited over a camera movement that nobody else notices or disappearing down a creative rabbit hole because
"I've just had an idea."
Sometimes those ideas are brilliant.
Sometimes they're absolute shockers.
Outside the cameras, I'm passionate about building opportunities for others. Whether that's mentoring emerging creatives, supporting youth initiatives, collaborating with regional communities or helping industries embrace innovation, I believe success is something that's meant to be shared.
At the heart of everything I do is one simple belief.
Stories build trust.
Stories build businesses.
Stories build communities.
And stories leave a legacy long after we're gone.
If Kollektive Media can help someone see their own value, help a business communicate its purpose or inspire the next generation to dream a little bigger, then I reckon we're doing something worthwhile.
So if you're looking for someone to simply make another video, I'm probably not your guy.
But if you're looking for someone who'll jump into your world, ask the questions others don't, care about your vision as much as you do and probably make you laugh along the way, then I'd love to hear your story.
Let's create something worth remembering.
